Baxter support for Home-based dialysis - Digital Health initiative to keep patients connected at home during COVID-19

Press Release
  • Baxter Healthcare Pty Ltd (Baxter) has announced a new COVID-19 digital health initiative to help patients stay connected at home during COVID-19.

Sydney, Australia -

Hospitals and dialysis clinics across Australia and New Zealand will have free access to the Sharesource remote patient management platform for home-based Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) patients for the next six months as hospitals, clinicians, carers and Governments work to support dialysis patients at high-risk of COVID-19.

Sharesource technology connects PD patients in the home with healthcare professionals in the hospital to allow health professionals to remotely monitor and adjust dialysis treatment.

General Manager for Baxter Australia and New Zealand, Steven Flynn, said innovation in remote monitoring technology was helping to deliver essential therapies safely in the home.

“Baxter is proud to support home dialysis patients to stay connected with healthcare professionals in this time of COVID-19,” Mr Flynn said. “The Sharesource digital health initiative will support high-risk and vulnerable patients on peritoneal dialysis to stay home and stay safe.

“Remote patient management technology helps to connect home patients with their healthcare specialist in the hospital or clinic. Healthcare specialists can monitor and remotely adjust a patient’s therapy.

“Limiting the number of visits to a hospital or dialysis clinic will help take pressure off our healthcare system and reduce the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19.”

This initiative from Baxter will allow free access to Sharesource remote patient management platform for Australian and New Zealand hospitals and clinics for the period until 31 October 2020.
