Intravenous therapy is the infusion of fluids and medications (as well as blood products) to a patient direct into the blood stream. IV fluids are extensively used in many patient care areas from urgent care to home care.
IV fluids are used to replace fluid loss from trauma or dehydration. It provides basic nutritional support and is ready to use electrolytes.

Baxter has been a pioneer in the development of products for IV therapy since beginning as the first commercial manufacturer of IV solutions in 1931. In Australia we have been manufacturing IV fluids at our Toongabbie site in Sydney NSW, facility since 1973.
